Starting this week, the Dutch Armed Forces are launching a free online course which examines the fundamental aspects impacting on the widespead use of hydrogen in today’s economy.
The course is divided into two sections;
The first being Explosion Theory, which is being presented by Prof. Dr. Arief Dahoe. In this section the phenomenology, dynaimcs and mitigation of explosions will be examined. Here they examine the nature of explosions – how they form, how they expand, how they become destructive, how to reduce their impact and how to prevent them from occuring in the first place.
The second section discusses hydrogen safety. Here it is examined how hydrogen can be safely introduced into society as an energy carrier. The properties of hydrogen, the hazards, risk assessment, ATEX zoning and ignition analysis, application of Hazid methodology and other topics will be discussed.
This course is purely online and is managed over Zoom.
